Reported Prevalence of Gambling-related Financial Issues
§ Counsellors reported that 9% of their clients had ANY gambling-related financial issue
§ Counsellors reported that 5.4% of their clients had an EXTENSIVE gambling-related financial issue
Clients with ANY Gambling-related Financial Issue
Demographic characteristics
§ Counsellors reported that approximately 50% of their clients with any gambling-related financial issue
were male and 50% were female
§ Counsellors reported that their clients with any of these issues were most likely to be 45 to 64 years of
age (this age group accounted for 50% - 60% of these types of clients)
Perception of 5 year trends
§ 70% of counsellors said that the proportion of clients with any gambling-related financial issue has
increased over the past 5 years
§ 76% of counsellors said that there has been no increase or decrease in male clients with any of these
issues
§ 23% of counsellors said that there has been an increase in female clients with any of these issues
§ 33% of counsellors said that there has been an increase in elderly people with any of these issues

§ Counsellors reported that the clients with an extensive gambling-related financial issue were most likely
to be 45 to 64 years of age (this age group accounted for approximately 50% of these types of clients)

§ 50% of counsellors said that the proportion of clients with an extensive gambling-related financial issue
has increased over the past 5 years
§ 76% of counsellors said that there has been no increase or decrease in male clients with extensive
issues, although 10% thought there has been an increase
§ 24% of counsellors said that there has been an increase in female clients with extensive issues
§ 33% of counsellors said that there has been an increase in elderly people with extensive issues
