About Us

Since 1975 over 14,000 clients have sought advice about their financial problems from Family Services Perth-Huron.  They have arranged a free appointment in person, or by telephone to discuss their problems.  With the support, and sometimes intervention of the agency, individuals and families have not only been able to regain peace of mind, but also been able to better cope with current financial problems - to have a hope for a better future free of too much debt.

Your local Credit Counselling Service is part of a network of Not-For-Profit agencies across Canada.  United Ways, members of the Canadian Bankers Association, major retailers help fund these programs.  Family Services Perth-Huron belongs to the Ontario Association of Credit Counselling Services and Credit Counselling Canada.  A stringent accreditation program assures the public of reliable, professional, high quality service.

Every day across Canada thousands of interviews are conducted with over-indebted clients seeking a solution to their problems.  Many people are able to consolidate their debts through a Debt Management Program.  If the client is able to and wishes to, the Agency will act on their behalf to arrange one affordable monthly payment to cover their debts.  These arrangements are approved by virtually all credit grantors.  Interest charges are usually stopped or greatly reduced which enables the debtor to repay the debts in full over a reasonable period of time, having sufficient income left to cover ongoing living expenses.

You are not alone if you are having debt problems.  Insolvency cases in Canada from 1968 to 2004 have increased an average of 9.2% annually.  Consumer debt is continually rising.  The result is a great deal of stress related problems such as anxiety and depression.  Money issues are a leading cause of marriage problems.

Your community provides help with these problems available to you across Grey, Bruce, Perth and Huron Counties.

 Resolve your debt problems.
